Bill Wyman put together his ten-piece Rhythm Kings ensemble after leaving the Rolling Stones in 1992. The band has a core rhythm section, but features a revolving combination of all-star guest front men and women. These recordings feature the talents of Gary Brooker, Georgie Fame, Beverley Skeete, Terry Taylor, Mike Sanchez, Andy Fairweather Low, Martin Taylor, Chris Stainton and Albert Lee. This special set of studio recordings, the first ones to be issued since 2004, gathers up fifteen outtakes from eight different sessions, including two songs from as far back as March 1987 (before the actual formation of the Rhythm Kings). These previously overlooked and unheard gems have been newly mixed for this album by Bill Wyman and Terry Taylor. The booklet contains all the musician credits. It’s a very eclectic selection of songs, from Midnight Oil to Canned Heat to Dan Hicks, via classics by Willie Dixon, Slim Harpo, Jimmie Rodgers, Louis Jordan and Don Covay, and some originals – there’s a solo song by Georgie Fame, “Skiing Blues”, and “Jazz Walk”, a Wyman/Fame co-write.

Hemi-Vision is the third album by Canadian blues-rock band Big Sugar. The album was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 1997 Juno Awards. The singles from the album were "Diggin' a Hole", "If I Had My Way", "Gone For Good" and "Opem Up Baby". The band also recorded a French language version of "Opem Up Baby", entitled "Ouvres-toi Bebe", for radio airplay in Quebec (see also Chauffe a bloc).
The album was recorded in six weeks at Presence Studios and Phase One Studios. According to Gordie Johnson, this was the first album that the band had recorded with an adequate budget, having $65,000 Canadian at their disposal. Johnson collaborated with several other songwriters for this album. "Gone for Good", "Empty Head", and "If I Had My Way" were co-written with Patrick Ballantyne; "La Stralla" and "Skull King" with Andrew Whiteman; "Tired All The Time" with bandmate Kelly Hoppe; "Opem Up Baby" with Dan Gallagher; "Tommy Johnson" with Dave Wall; and "Diggin' a Hole" with Gallagher and Andy Curran.
This track was labelled as "Opem Up Baby" on the CD cover, although both the lyrics and the French version, titled "Ouvres-toi bebe", indicate that the intended meaning was "open". It is not known if this was a spelling error on the cover art or an intentional use of artistic license, but both "Opem" and "Open" have been cited as the song's title by different reference works. The band's own website, however, uses the "opem" spelling, as does the 2003 greatest hits compilation Hit & Run, lending credence to the idea that it was intentional.

The eclectic Toronto blues-rock outfit Big Sugar was primarily the project of singer/guitarist Gordie Johnson, who teamed with bassist Terry Wilkins and drummer Al Cross to record the group's 1992 self-titled debut LP. By the time of 1993's Five Hundred Pounds, Wilkins was missing from the lineup; a number of guest musicians fleshed out the recording, among them multi-instrumentalist Kelly Hoppe, who (along with new bassist Garry Lowe) was installed as a permanent member by the 1995 EP Dear M.F. Drummer Walter "Crash" Morgan replaced Cross during Big Sugar's subsequent tour of the U.S.; sadly, while playing a date in Iowa, Morgan died onstage, and was replaced by ex-Odds drummer Paul Brennan in time for the 1996 release of Hemi-Vision. Gavin Brown then assumed Brennan's duties on 1998's Heated. The band remained busy in the 2000s, with albums like Brothers & Sisters, Are You Ready? ~ Jason Ankeny
